DONRUSS:
This 26-card set featured the most valuable player from each team and featured the same red borders and white nameplate, but with the acronym "MVP" printed consecutively in orange against a brown backdrop behind the player photo. These were randomly inserted in all 1990 Donruss packs and were printed at the same rate as any of the other base cards. The factory sets were distributed without the Bonus MVPs. Early printings depicted Tom Glavine on John Smoltz's card. This was corrected very early in the production run.

THE PERFORMERS SET:
This 24-card set was produced by Fleer for Citgo/7-11 stations and released in the Spring of 1992.
Customers could receive a pack of 5-cards from the set with the purchase of eight of more gallons of gasoline at participating Citgo stations - the design was similar to the '92 Fleer set, with the exception of sky blue borders (instead of the teal borders used in the Fleer base set) and a "The Performer Collection" logo on the front and 7-11 and Citgo logos on the back.

GOLD WINNERS:
Each pack of '92 Topps Baseball featured a "Match-the-Stats" game card...
For every 100 "Runs" saved in this game (and $2 postage and handling), collectors could receive a pack of ten Topps Gold cards. Unfortunately, the game was compromised. (By placing the Match-the-Stats card on top of a flashlight, collector's could see the correct answers).
In order to protect the integrity of the game and the pack-inserted Gold cards, Topps printed the word "Winner" in gold foil on the card front - The Gold Winner promotion was very popular, and the cards are in noticeably larger supply than the basic gold parallels...

THE ELITE SERIES SUPERS: (IN THE TRUNK)
The popular Elite Series normal-sized card set was featured as the showpiece insert in '93 Donruss/Leaf, that highlighted some of the top players in the game. Just like those inserts, these jumbos were notable because each featured a silver-holographic "cracked-ice" foil pattern, which was the first use of this design in the Hobby and was later popularized by the '98 Bowman's Best Refractors years later.
The unique holographic pattern bordered the card that also featured a team-colored background with the color player photo in the foreground. Cards 1-18 paralleled cards 19-36 in the Elite set. The last two cards in this set - cards #19 and #20 - featured Nolan Ryan and Frank Thomas, neither of whom originally appeared in the Elite Series insert set. Further, Barry Bonds was depicted in his Giants uniform and Dave Winfield was updated in his Minnesota Twins uniform. Each Elite Series Super was serial-numbered to 5000 copies.
It is unclear how these cards were distributed; however, they were more than likely included as a premium in retail-repacks.

BOWMAN:
1994 Bowman is a 682-card set released as a single-series, in June 1994. This would be the only year Bowman went with a borderless design - Until '99 Victory, it would also be the last baseball card product released without any inserts. There are 52 Foil cards (337-388) that include a number of top young stars and prospects. These foil cards were issued one per foil pack and two per jumbo -- although these cards are NOT short-printed.

DONRUSS:
1994 was a transition year for The Hobby as a whole, marking the end of the Junk Wax Era.
Donruss reconfigured their annual flagship set as a "premium" level product, to directly compete with Topps Stadium Club, Fleer's Ultra, Upper Deck, and Pinnacle - not to mention their own Leaf and Studio brands.
Each card was printed on a glossy card stock with a borderless design and foil stamping on both the nameplate and brand name. Further, the number of insert sets offered increased to eight - in addition to a partial-parallel set - to seemingly answer the high demand for chase sets during this era that was still gripped by the Insert Mania craze.
Prior to distribution, Leaf announced that only 17,500 cases of each series would be produced -- a drastic production cut from the previous year's product.
The only subsets are Rated Rookies (which for the second straight year are scattered throughout the base set) and checklists. There are no notable rookies in the set.
